Bookclub at Horizon Center

Anyone... men, women, young, old... is welcome to join the reading group that meets at the new home of Shelby Senior Services: The Horizon Center; 1504 S Harrison St. Shelbyville IN 46176

1:00pm -- fourth THURSDAY -- each month

Come early to enjoy lunch and conversation with others at the Center. You may brown bag it or call ahead to reserve a CICOA lunch, available everyday at the Center (317-392-9727). Need transportation? Call ShelbyGo in advance (317-398-7614).

Enjoy friendly discussions facilitated by Cheryl from the public library after reading the book on you own. Or simply come to listen! Excerpts are often read aloud from the month's selection. This is the greatest way to get to know new people and to read books you might never pick up on your own.

Don't feel like you have to sign up for a year... Join us when you can! Don't worry if you're not sure that you'll have time to finish the book... Come anyway! Try us out... we're very laid back.

The group usually decides upcoming titles together. The facilitator has access to materials that are available for no charge and gets large-print and audio versions as possible for those who need them. We hope to hear from you soon!

April Meeting: 4/26/12; 1pm (fourth Thursday)
Wish You Well by David Baldacci

For advance copies of the books, contact Cheryl Miller 398-7121 ext. 231 317.398.7121 ext. 231 or cmiller@sscpl.lib.in.us

Shelbyville MOPS: Book Discussions

Are you a parent of young children? You might enjoy the Shelbyville MOPS book discussion group. Shelbyville MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. Most moms in the MOPS group have a child aged 0-6 yrs. old (although many of them also have older children as well). MOPS group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at Shelbyville Community Church from 9-11 (childcare is provided).

Several of the moms also get together for book club. The next book club discussion will be on February 20 at Starbucks on Lee Blvd. at 7:30 pm. The book we'll be reading is "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" by Helen Simonson. (P.S. Having a child is not required in order to join our group!!) We'd love have new people join!)
